Mini turkey burger with avocado, bacon, and cheese on cutting board

Game Day Mini Turkey Sliders

Nick Fantasma

Makes 6-8 sliders

Ingredients:
For Burgers:
1 pound ground turkey
⅛ cup Fantasma’s apricot preserves
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ Teaspoon Paprika
1 Teaspoon Onion Powder
1 Teaspoon Sea Salt
1 Teaspoon Black Pepper

For Butter Sauce:
1/2 cup melted butter
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
1 tablespoon dijon mustard
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

For Serving:
Greens of choice
2 slices Monterey Jack cheese, each slice cut into quarters
8 mini burger buns, brioche-style or Hawaiian sweet rolls
1 sliced avocado
8 pieces crispy bacon, cut in half

Add ground turkey, apricot preserves, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, salt and pepper to a large bowl. Mix the ingredients together until well combined. Divide the patty mixture into eight equal-sized patties. Form each portion into a ball and flatten it with the palm of your hand so that it measures 3 inches wide and is about ½ inch thick. Place on baking sheet.

Bake in the middle of the oven for 10-12 minutes or until they reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit when measured with a meat thermometer.

In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, poppy seeds, dijon mustard, onion powder and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.

Meanwhile, separate the buns and lay them cut side down on a baking sheet. Drizzle or brush the butter mixture over the top of the sandwiches to cover. Bake for 5 minutes, or until lightly toasted.

When the burgers come out of the oven, lay a slice of cheese on top of the hot burger. Finish assembling the burgers on the mini buns, topped with greens, bacon and sliced avocado.
